Fear lasts an afternoon, regret lasts ten years
Say this
Fear and regret are both unpleasant. They have completely different durations. And we trade the short one for the long one every single day.
Fear rarely announces itself. It shows up as a principle. That's not really me. It's not the right time. I have concerns.
At seventeen my class went to India. I was terrified of the plane, so I said flying was immoral and stayed home for the climate. The fear would have lasted the flight. The regret is still here.
